Description

The Gulf is a 30cm dome pendant light formed from a single piece of mouth-blown glass with a mirrored silver chrome interior coating. The shade measures 14cm in height and hangs from a 150cm black fabric cable with a polished chrome ceiling cap. A single G9 lamp sits at the top of the dome, with the bulb itself partially visible through the open underside of the shade.

Designed for use over kitchen islands, breakfast bars and dining tables, the Gulf works as a single feature pendant or in groupings of two or three at staggered drops. The 150cm cable is shortened on installation to set the shade between 700-900mm above a worktop or table surface. The compact 30cm diameter and lightweight glass shade suit lower ceilings where a larger fitting would dominate.

The mirrored chrome finish on the glass picks up colour and movement from the room around it rather than presenting as a solid metallic block, so the shade reads differently against a white wall, a tiled splashback or a darker painted backdrop. The open base directs G9 light downwards onto the surface below while the curved upper dome reflects light back across the ceiling. The chrome cap and exposed cable suit modern, industrial and transitional schemes.

What bulb does it take?

The Gulf takes a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. A 3-4W G9 LED in 2700K-3000K warm white pairs well with the mirrored chrome shade and avoids the heat output of an equivalent halogen.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable when paired with a dimmable G9 LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. Confirm dimmer compatibility with the bulb manufacturer before installation.

What height should it hang above a kitchen island?

The 150cm cable is shortened on installation. Most kitchen island and breakfast bar installations set the bottom of the shade 700-900mm above the worktop. For a dining table, 700-800mm above the surface is typical.

Can it be used in groupings?

Yes. The 30cm diameter and slim cable suspension make the Gulf well-suited to clusters of two or three pendants over a longer island or table. Each pendant is a separate fitting, so multiple ceiling outlets or a track adapter are needed for grouped installations.
