Description

The Lumen is a 38cm table lamp built around a curved matt black stem that rises from a circular base to support a clear glass sphere topped with a polished chrome cap. The lamp takes a single G9 bulb (sold separately) positioned inside the glass diffuser, which casts light through the sphere and down onto the surface below.

Designed for desks, bedside tables and reading corners, the Lumen provides directed task light within a 17cm-diameter footprint. The curved stem tilts the sphere forward slightly, angling the light pool towards a typical sitting or reading position rather than straight down. The chrome cap reflects light back into the glass sphere, increasing diffusion and reducing direct glare from the exposed bulb.

The matt black finish on the stem and base absorbs ambient light rather than reflecting it, keeping the visual focus on the lit sphere when the lamp is switched on. The chrome cap introduces a contrasting metallic accent that pairs well with chrome hardware elsewhere in the room (drawer pulls, picture frames, tap fittings). At 1.5kg the lamp has enough weight to sit stable on a desk or bedside table without needing to be clamped or fixed.

The Lumen takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 33W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 3-5W LED G9 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for reading or desk work.

Is the lamp dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the G9 bulb you fit. Many LED G9 bulbs are dimmable, but you must check the bulb packaging to confirm compatibility with your dimmer switch model.

Can the head be adjusted?

No. The curved stem is fixed in position and the sphere does not tilt or rotate once assembled. The forward tilt is built into the stem design to angle light towards a typical sitting position.

What's the light output like?

With a 3-5W LED G9 the lamp provides focused task light suitable for reading or desk work within a metre radius. The clear glass diffuser softens the light but does not block it entirely, so the bulb remains visible when lit. For softer ambient light, choose a frosted or opal G9 bulb instead of clear.
