Description

The Virelle is a 180mm alabaster table lamp built as a single carved cylinder of natural Spanish alabaster, finished in soft white with an 80mm diameter. An integrated 3000K LED sits inside the column, casting warm light through the full height of the stone so the alabaster itself acts as the diffuser. There are no visible bulbs, fittings or screws on the exterior — the lit form reads as a single column of glowing stone.

The compact 180mm height and slim 80mm footprint suit bedside tables, console tables, shelving and mantelpieces where a larger lamp would dominate. The lamp works well as an accent light beside a sofa, on an entrance hall console, or as a pair flanking a bed. The 3000K colour temperature gives a warm white glow closer to candlelight than daylight, suitable for evening ambient lighting rather than task work.

Each Virelle is cut from a single block of Spanish alabaster, so the veining and tonal variation differ between pieces. When lit, the stone reveals threads of warm beige and amber moving through the soft white surface, with the polished finish helping the light diffuse evenly from base to top rather than pooling in one area. The cylindrical form has softly rounded edges where the top and base meet the body, keeping the silhouette uninterrupted.

Running on 230V mains with an integrated LED, the Virelle does not require a replacement bulb. The 2-year warranty covers the LED and electrical components against manufacturing defects.

Will each lamp look the same?

No. Each Virelle is cut from a single block of natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining, tonal variation and translucency differ between individual pieces. This is a feature of the natural material rather than a defect, and is most visible when the lamp is lit.

How is alabaster cleaned?

Alabaster is porous and softer than marble. Wipe gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the stone and do not use household sprays, polishes or chemical cleaners.
