Description

A wall light, 15cm tall, in black. At 70cm it is about as wide as a standard interior door. A wall light is fixed, so its position is permanent. Decide it against the furniture that will sit beneath it rather than against an empty wall.

A dark finish reads as a shape rather than a surface, so the outline does the work and the detail recedes. Against a pale wall that is graphic; against a dark one the piece almost disappears. Moulded plastic is light and unbothered by being knocked, which is what makes it sensible where something will be handled or moved often. It will chalk slightly after years of direct sun.

It takes 1 Integrated LED screw-fit bulb. Integrated LED is the commonest fitting on any supermarket shelf, so replacements are never a hunt. It is not dimmable, which means you choose the warmth at the bulb rather than at the switch: a 2700K bulb will do more here than a dimmer would. A Integrated LED shaped bulb, which is the word to look for on the box.

The light you actually see is the light that comes THROUGH the shade, not the light from the bulb. That is why the same bulb reads warm behind a cream fabric and cold behind a white one. A fabric shade fades from the inside out rather than the outside in, because the bulb is closer than the window. A lining slows that considerably, which is most of what a lining is for.
