Description
The Yaiza is a 119cm floor lamp built around a cylindrical shade woven from braided paper rope, set on a combined metal and wood frame with a circular wooden base. The shade tapers slightly towards the top, with tightly woven sections at the top and bottom framing an open-weave central body where individual rope strands form a diagonal lattice pattern. A single E27 bulb inside the shade casts light through the gaps in the weave, projecting the lattice pattern onto surrounding walls and ceilings.
Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and reading corners in coastal, bohemian and natural-material interiors, the Yaiza works as ambient lighting rather than task lighting — the woven shade diffuses light broadly without focusing it. The 32cm diameter footprint suits floor positions beside sofas, armchairs or low sideboards where a vertical accent is needed without blocking sightlines. The beige tone of the paper rope pairs with linen, jute, rattan and unfinished timber furniture.
The paper rope is wound tightly enough to hold its shape under its own tension but remains lightweight at 3.2kg total, making the lamp easy to reposition. The wooden base adds stability on rugs and carpets. The shade is not sealed or treated, so the lamp carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use only — it is not suitable for bathrooms, conservatories or outdoor covered areas. The E27 lampholder accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 20W (bulb sold separately).
Light filtering through the woven structure creates a warm, low-contrast ambient glow rather than directional task light. The pattern of shadows cast by the lattice changes with the angle of view and shifts as you move around the room, giving the lamp a different visual character from different positions. The natural beige colour and woven texture mean the lamp remains a visual presence when unlit during daylight hours.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Yaiza take?
The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 20W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting that complements the natural beige tone of the shade.
Can the Yaiza be used in a bathroom or conservatory?
No. The lamp carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use only. The paper rope shade is not sealed or moisture-resistant, so it is not suitable for bathrooms, conservatories, or any space with elevated humidity or risk of water contact.
Is the lamp stable on rugs and carpets?
Yes. The 32cm circular wooden base provides stability on short-pile rugs and carpets. On thick or shag rugs the base may sink slightly, but the 3.2kg weight keeps the lamp upright under normal conditions.
How is the woven shade cleaned?
The braided paper rope can be dusted with a soft, dry brush or microfibre cloth. Do not use water, sprays or chemical cleaners, as the paper is absorbent and will stain or weaken if wetted. For stubborn dust, a handheld vacuum on the lowest setting with a soft brush attachment is acceptable.
