Description

The Knightsbridge TorlanECO is a 2ft (720mm) IP65-rated LED batten with an integrated 18W LED delivering 1,790 lumens at 4000K cool white through an opal polycarbonate diffuser. The housing is constructed from white polycarbonate with compression gland entry at one end, protecting the internal driver and LED from dust and water ingress to IP65 standard.

Designed for utility installations in plant rooms, bike stores, external storage areas, garages and covered walkways, the batten mounts to either wall or ceiling surfaces and complies with BESA box installation standards. The fast-fix push-fit connector at the cable entry end allows mains wiring to be terminated without screwdriver access to the driver compartment, and the hinged gear tray inside the housing opens for maintenance without disturbing the mounting. The batten accepts an optional MODMWS microwave sensor module for occupancy-based switching.

The 18W LED runs on 230V 50Hz mains without requiring an external driver, and the opal diffuser spreads the 125-degree beam angle evenly across the 720mm length. The Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for an earth connection in most installations. The polycarbonate housing withstands moderate impact and resists UV degradation in covered outdoor locations where the fitting remains shielded from direct weather exposure.

The L70B50 rating of 30,000 hours indicates the point at which 50% of a batch would have degraded to 70% of initial lumen output under continuous operation, which translates to approximately 10 years of use at 8 hours per day before noticeable light loss. The batten carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty covering manufacturing defects and component failure.

Can this be installed outdoors?

The IP65 rating protects against dust and water jets, making it suitable for covered outdoor locations such as covered walkways, canopies and external storage areas where the fitting is shielded from direct weather exposure. It is not designed for fully exposed outdoor mounting where it would face direct rain or standing water.

Is it dimmable?

No. The integrated 18W LED driver does not support dimming. The batten operates at full output when powered, or can be switched on/off via a standard wall switch or optional MODMWS sensor module.

What does the fast-fix connector do?

The push-fit connector at the cable entry end allows mains wiring to be terminated without needing to open the driver compartment with a screwdriver. This speeds installation in tight spaces and reduces the risk of accidental contact with live components during wiring.

What's the colour temperature like?
