Description

This is a stacking garden chair with arms, woven in synthetic rattan over a metal frame. Synthetic rattan has the woven look of cane, and here it is PE, or polyethylene: a plastic which, unlike natural cane, does not soak up water. The chair measures 57cm wide, 62cm deep and 83cm tall, and the width and depth are the figures to check against the spot you have in mind.

It is made for outdoor use and works indoors too, so it suits a patio or balcony as well as a conservatory or garden room. Because it stacks, several chairs store in not much more floor space than one, which helps if you want extra seats for visitors without giving the whole shed over to them. At 4.00kg it is light enough to carry out when friends arrive and stack away afterwards. The arms give you somewhere to rest your elbows and something to push against as you stand. The weave mixes warm beige and grey strands into a mottled neutral, set off by dark grey feet, and it sits well against stone paving, weathered timber and green planting.

The 7mm weave is wrapped over the frame right down each leg to its foot, and the arms run forward from the backrest before curving down into the front legs. The backrest is angled back slightly, and the seat is woven in the same way, so add a seat pad if you prefer something softer. It needs no assembly. We suggest a cover whenever it is not in use, to help it keep its quality, and the chair carries its own care label to follow. Set a pair either side of a back door, or one beside a large planter, for a simple spot to sit with a morning coffee.
