Description
The Taxi is a recessed LED step light built to mark stairs and steps with a low, controlled glow. It draws just 0.6W and gives 10 lumens at 4000K cool white, set into the wall beside a tread so the light washes downward across the step rather than into the eye. American buyers will recognise this as a recessed step light or stair marker light, the small square wall-set fitting used to pick out a flight of steps after dark. The square face measures 70 × 50 mm and sits flush once installed.
Its job is path marking rather than area lighting, so think of it in terms of throw rather than coverage: a single unit lights one or two treads clearly, and a run set at regular intervals guides the eye safely up a staircase, through an entrance or along a porch. It suits stairwells, garden steps under cover, carports and sheltered entry routes. With an IP54 rating it is splash-resistant and happy in covered or sheltered outdoor spots, though it should be kept out of fully-exposed positions, direct water jets or anywhere it could be submerged. Mount it at low level beside the steps for the cleanest effect.
The body is metal in a matte chrome finish, recessed into the wall for a flush, tidy line. It runs on 220 to 240V AC mains, so no separate transformer is needed, and the integrated LED is rated for around 20,000 hours. The fitting is not dimmable and is fixed at 4000K cool white. At 190 g and 70 mm deep it sets neatly into a prepared recess. The Taxi range includes further outdoor-rated step and wall fittings if you want a matching look across a project.

Frequently Asked
Does it need a separate transformer or driver?
No. The Taxi runs directly on 220 to 240V AC mains, so no separate 12V transformer or external driver is required. The LED and its control gear are built in, which keeps installation straightforward.
Can it be used outdoors?
It carries an IP54 rating, so it is splash-resistant and suited to covered or sheltered outdoor spots such as a porch, carport or steps under an overhang. Keep it clear of fully-exposed positions, direct water jets and standing water.
How is it installed?
It is a recessed fitting that sets into a prepared opening in the wall beside the steps, finishing flush with the surface. Mount it at low level so the 10 lumen output washes across the tread for clear step marking.
How do I keep it clean?
Wipe the chrome face with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it off, avoiding abrasive pads or harsh solvents that could mark the matte finish. An occasional clean keeps the recessed lens clear so the light stays bright on the step below.
