Description

The Tau is a 140cm linear LED pendant light built around a flexible silicone neon diffuser housed within a gold aluminium frame. The integrated 30W LED strip runs the length of the fitting at 3000K, casting a continuous ribbon of warm white light through the translucent silicone. The curved wavelike profile of the diffuser creates a sculptural presence when viewed from the side, while the gold frame provides structural support and reflects additional light downward.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and meeting tables where length-distributed light is needed, the Tau works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The 1400mm span typically covers a 1600-1800mm table length, with the suspension height adjustable on installation to sit 700-900mm above the table surface depending on ceiling height. The gold finish pairs with warm-toned wood, brass fixtures and contemporary interiors using warm metallics as accent details.

The flexible silicone diffuser softens the LED point sources into a continuous glow without visible hotspots, while the aluminium construction keeps the overall weight manageable for standard ceiling roses. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor use only. The integrated 30W LED can be dimmed if paired with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model, Maytoni recommend testing or confirming dimmer suitability before installation.

What table length does this suit?

The 140cm length typically covers dining tables or kitchen islands between 160-180cm long. For longer tables, consider positioning two Tau fittings in sequence or selecting a longer linear light from the Maytoni range.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or any location where moisture is present.

How is the suspension height adjusted?

The cable length is adjusted during installation by shortening or extending the suspension cables within the ceiling rose. Once installed, the height is fixed unless the fitting is taken down and re-fitted.
