This 50 x 50cm cushion carries one of the best-loved patterns in the Morris archive, Strawberry Thief, worked here in embroidery across a matt velvet ground. The birds, the strawberries and the trailing foliage are stitched in golds, ambers, greys and soft creams over a biscuit-beige body, so the design sits raised and textured against the smooth pile rather than printed flat. The result reads as a warm neutral from across the room and reveals its detail up close.

A 50cm square is the standard sofa and bed cushion size, which makes this an easy one to slot into an arrangement you already own or to buy in a pair for symmetry. The colouring is gentle and grounded, so it suits a room built around neutrals and warm earth tones as readily as it lifts a plainer scheme.
