Description
This is a jacquard-woven throw carrying the Strawberry Thief design, drawn from William Morris's 1883 original of birds among strawberries and trailing flowers. It measures 140 x 170cm, a generous single-throw size, and is woven from a blend of 62% acrylic and 38% cotton. The pattern is built into the cloth on the loom rather than printed on top, so the birds, blossoms and berries are made from the weave itself, with a fringed trim finishing the edges. The photographs show a deep indigo ground with cream, pale blue and rust-red motifs, and a paler cream-and-rust reverse where the same design reads back through the weave.
A throw this size suits the arm or back of a sofa, the foot of a bed, or a reading chair where you want something to pull over your knees. The dark ground works with the panelled and neutral rooms it is shown in, and the busy botanical pattern gives a plain sofa or a quiet bedroom something to look at without needing anything else added. It sits comfortably alongside the wider Strawberry Thief range, including the coordinating cushions pictured beside it.
The acrylic in the blend gives the cloth its body and helps it hold colour and shape through use, while the cotton content brings a softer, more natural feel against the skin. Being a jacquard weave, both faces of the throw are usable, one darker and one lighter, so you can turn it to suit your mood or your room. The fringed edge is left loose rather than bound, in keeping with the artisan character of the piece. Fold it over a ladder rack as shown, drape it across a bed, or keep it to hand on the sofa for cooler evenings. Where the record does not give washing guidance we have not guessed at it, so check the sewn-in care label before laundering.

Frequently Asked
How big is this throw?
It measures 140 x 170cm, which is a good single-throw size for draping over a sofa arm, a reading chair or across the foot of a bed.
What is the throw made from?
It is a blend of 62% acrylic and 38% cotton. The acrylic gives the cloth body and helps it hold its shape and colour, while the cotton adds a softer, more natural feel.
Is the pattern printed or woven in?
It is a jacquard weave, which means the design is built into the cloth on the loom rather than printed on the surface, so the motifs are formed by the weave itself.
Can I use both sides?
Yes. As a jacquard weave it is reversible, showing a darker indigo face and a paler cream-and-rust face, so you can turn it to suit your room.
What is the edge finish?
The edges carry a loose fringed trim rather than a bound hem, which suits the relaxed, artisan character of the throw.
