Description

Ultra slim and round, this is a small recessed light with a frosted acrylic face held in a matt white surround. The diffuser spreads light widely, so you get a soft general glow rather than a hard beam. The LED is built in and the driver comes with it, and the output is cool white: clean and a little brisk, good where you want to see clearly. It draws 6W and gives 540 lumens. There is no dimming, so a plain on/off switch is all it asks for.

An 80mm cut-out keeps it modest, and lights this size are ones we reach for in hallways, landings, cloakrooms and rooms with a low ceiling. We would run a line of them along a corridor, or space a few across a utility room or a walk-in wardrobe where a pendant would only be in the way. Cool white suits working spaces, kitchen runs, home offices and garages, better than it suits a sitting room, where warmer light tends to read more comfortably. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from shower zones and anywhere steam or splashes reach.

The frosted acrylic face sits in a matt white finish that stays quiet against a plain ceiling. Bright white shows dust, so wipe the face occasionally with a barely damp cloth and dry it off; nothing abrasive, as acrylic scuffs easily. Kill the power at the switch before you start. It carries a three year warranty. The rest of the Saona range is surface flush fittings, round and square, in a spread of larger sizes and in warm white as well as cool, so the same plain white disc can carry through the house. The LED is fixed in place, so there is no lamp to change.
