Description

A square face in matt white sits close against the ceiling line, with a shallow body behind it and an integrated LED doing the work. The output is warm at 3000K, drawn from 12W, and it spreads widely rather than pooling in a tight circle, so a run of them washes a room evenly. The driver is supplied with the fitting. There is no dimming, so it is switched simply on and off.

We use these where a plain, quiet ceiling is wanted and the light needs to come from above with nothing hanging down: hallways, landings, home offices and kitchens. The 130mm cut-out is a common size, so it sits happily in a scheme alongside other square detailing. Warm white keeps bedrooms and sitting rooms comfortable rather than clinical, and the broad spread means fewer of them are needed to cover a floor. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, not for shower zones or anywhere open to the weather.

The body and trim are finished in matt white, which reads as part of a painted ceiling rather than a bright ring on it, and the fitting is double insulated. For cleaning, switch off at the wall, let the face lose its heat, then take the dust off with a dry cloth; abrasives and solvents will dull the paint, so keep them away from it. The LED is built in, so there is no lamp to change. It carries a three year warranty. The rest of the Saona range runs to surface-mounted flush fittings in both round and square shapes, in warm and cooler white, if you would rather have the same matt white finish sitting on the ceiling than set into it.
