Description
The Sally is an 85mm diameter recessed downlight with an integrated 11W 3000K LED and IP65 rating, built around a die-cast aluminium trim finished in matt black. The IP65 seal protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms, covered outdoor soffits and commercial kitchens where moisture exposure is routine.
Designed for installation in plasterboard, panel or suspended ceilings, the Sally fits a standard downlight cutout and connects directly to 230V mains without requiring an external driver or transformer. The fixed beam angle delivers downward-focused illumination over a work surface, bathroom vanity or walkway, rather than ambient room light. The 11W COB LED runs cooler and lasts longer than halogen equivalents, reducing maintenance cycles in hard-to-reach ceiling positions.
The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm white light comparable to halogen without the yellow cast of 2700K or the clinical tone of 4000K, sitting comfortably in domestic and hospitality interiors. The matt black trim provides a defined edge against white ceilings and pairs cleanly with industrial, contemporary and minimalist schemes. At 85mm outer diameter the Sally occupies a similar footprint to traditional GU10 downlights, allowing for retrofit into existing ceiling grids without widening cutouts.

Frequently Asked
Can this be used in a bathroom?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against direct water jets from any angle, making the Sally suitable for installation in bathroom zones 1 and 2 (directly above a bath or shower enclosure) as well as general bathroom ceiling positions. It is not submersible and should not be installed in zone 0.
Is the Sally dimmable?
No. The integrated LED is not compatible with dimmer switches. Connecting the Sally to a dimmed circuit may cause flickering or failure to light.
What ceiling cutout size is required?
The Sally requires a standard downlight cutout, typically 65-75mm diameter depending on the specific installation spring clip design. The 85mm diameter quoted is the outer trim diameter visible from below once fitted.
What is the beam angle?
Ideal Lux does not publish a specific beam angle for the Sally in the provided specification. Typical fixed COB downlights of this type deliver a 60-90° beam, providing focused downward light rather than wide room wash. Contact us if you require exact photometric data before ordering.
