Description
The Knightsbridge RMS is a Bluetooth speaker module that mounts flush into a standard wall back box, replacing a conventional socket or switch plate with a wireless audio outlet. The grille behind the brushed chrome faceplate conceals a speaker driver that connects to smartphones, tablets, and voice assistants via Bluetooth, turning the wall itself into an audio source.
Designed for residential kitchens, bedrooms, hotel rooms and commercial spaces where discrete audio is needed without surface-mounted speakers or visible cables, the RMS fits a 35-47mm back box and draws mains power via standard screw terminals. The unit pairs with Alexa, Google Assistant and other Bluetooth-enabled devices, allowing voice-controlled playback or direct streaming from a phone or tablet within typical Bluetooth range (8-10m unobstructed).
The 89mm square brushed chrome faceplate is manufactured from 430 stainless steel with a directional brushed finish that matches other Knightsbridge brushed chrome faceplates in the same installation. The speaker grille is perforated stainless steel with an integrated Bluetooth symbol etched below. The RMS projects 15.3mm from the wall once fitted, with a further 20.3mm recessed into the back box, giving a total depth of 35mm. The unit carries IP20 rating, EMC and LVD certification, and is RED and ErP compliant for low standby power consumption.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
The RMS requires a minimum 35mm back box depth and accepts boxes up to 47mm deep. The unit is designed for flush mounting only and cannot be surface-mounted on a pattress box.
How does it connect to Alexa or other devices?
The RMS pairs via standard Bluetooth. Once paired, it acts as a Bluetooth speaker for any connected device including Amazon Echo, Google Home, smartphones and tablets. Voice commands are sent to the source device (e.g. Alexa), which streams audio back to the RMS speaker.
What is the audio quality and output?
The RMS is designed for background audio and voice playback rather than high-fidelity music reproduction. Output power and frequency response are not specified by Knightsbridge, but the single-driver configuration suits spoken content, radio and casual listening at moderate volumes.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating means the RMS is not protected against moisture ingress. It should not be installed in bathroom zones where water spray is present. For dry zones outside the bath or shower area, consult Part P wiring regulations and a qualified electrician.
