Description

This is a fixed downlight with an IP65 rating, finished in brushed chrome. Fixed means the lens sits square in the ceiling and the light points straight down, so it is the version to choose when you want an even wash across a room rather than a beam angled at a wall or a mirror. The photographs show a plain round bezel with a softly brushed silver toned surface and a frosted centre lens, which diffuses the light and takes the hard edge off the source when you look up at it. The retail pack calls the range slimline and lists chrome, brushed and white as the three finishes, so a run of them can be matched to what is already in the ceiling.

The IP rating is what earns this fitting a place in a bathroom. IP65 means protected against dust and against low pressure water jets from any direction, and the supplier states it is suitable for zones 1 and 2 only, not zone 0. In practice that covers the ceiling above a bath or over a shower enclosure, as well as the rest of the room, but never inside the bath or shower basin itself.
