Description

The PowerMaster IP65 recessed downlight is a fixed GU10 fitting with a brushed chrome bezel, frosted glass diffuser and die-cast aluminium body. The 84mm diameter bezel sits flush with the ceiling and the 110mm body depth fits standard ceiling voids without requiring additional clearance above the plasterboard.

The IP65 rating makes this downlight suitable for bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3 (not zone 0), shower rooms, utility rooms and covered outdoor areas where the fitting is protected from direct water jets but exposed to condensation or spray. The frosted glass diffuser softens the beam from the GU10 bulb (sold separately) and prevents glare when viewed from below. The brushed chrome finish resists fingerprints and water marks better than polished chrome.

The die-cast aluminium construction gives the fitting structural rigidity whilst keeping the weight to 180g, light enough for installation into standard plasterboard ceilings without additional bracing. The fixed bezel means the light direction cannot be adjusted after installation, so positioning should account for the downward beam spread. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 lamp up to 35W and is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and dimmable GU10 bulb.

Can this be used in a shower enclosure?

Yes, the IP65 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3, which includes positions directly above a shower tray or bath. Zone 0 (inside the bath or shower basin itself) is not permitted. The fitting must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations for bathroom zones.

What GU10 bulb is recommended?

Any standard GU10 lamp up to 35W maximum is compatible. Most users choose a 4-6W LED GU10 in 3000K or 4000K depending on whether warm or neutral white light is preferred. The bulb is sold separately and should be dimmable if you intend to use a dimmer switch.

How much ceiling void depth is required?

The body depth is 110mm, so a minimum ceiling void of 120mm is recommended to allow clearance for the GU10 bulb and wiring connections behind the plasterboard.

Is the bezel adjustable or fixed?

The bezel is fixed and cannot be tilted or rotated after installation. Light is directed straight downward from the fitting, so positioning should account for where the beam needs to fall.
