Description
The PowerMaster 6ft LED batten fitting is an IP65-rated enclosure designed to house a single 1800mm T8 LED tube (sold separately). The fitting uses a polycarbonate base, diffuser and securing clips to provide a sealed unit rated for protection against water jets, dust ingress and low-energy impacts, meeting the tri-proof standard for damp or exposed locations.
Designed for garages, workshops, industrial storage areas, covered outdoor walkways and any environment where lighting must withstand moisture or dust, the batten operates on 220-240V mains and uses a single-end connection T8 lampholder. The IP65 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3 (not zone 0, which is the shower enclosure itself), utility rooms, cellars, and semi-outdoor covered spaces such as car ports and loading bays.
The polycarbonate diffuser softens the direct line-of-sight to the tube while maintaining good light transmission, reducing glare when the fitting is mounted at eye level or on low ceilings. The 2.37kg weight reflects the robust polycarbonate construction rather than thin acrylic, giving the fitting durability against knocks and vibration in working environments. The white finish blends into ceilings in commercial spaces and remains visually neutral in domestic garages or utility rooms.
Installation requires the batten to be fixed to a ceiling or wall surface via the mounting points on the base, after which the T8 tube is inserted and the diffuser is clipped into place. The single-end connection design means only one end of the tube is live-wired, simplifying the retrofit of older fluorescent batten positions where re-wiring for double-ended LED would be more complex.

Frequently Asked
Does this come with the LED tube?
No. The batten fitting is sold empty and requires a 1800mm T8 LED tube to be purchased separately. Make sure the tube you choose is designed for single-end connection to match the lampholder wiring in this fitting.
Can this be used outdoors?
The IP65 rating provides protection against water jets and dust, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as car ports, covered walkways and loading bay canopies. It should not be installed in fully exposed positions where it would face direct rain or submersion.
What does single-end connection mean?
Single-end connection means only one end of the T8 tube is live-wired to the mains supply, with the opposite end being a dummy cap. This simplifies retrofitting older fluorescent batten positions and reduces wiring complexity compared to double-ended LED tubes.
Is it suitable for bathroom use?
Yes, in zones 1, 2 and 3. Zone 0 is the shower enclosure itself and requires higher ingress protection. Zones 1, 2 and 3 cover the areas around baths, showers and sinks where moisture is present but not continuous direct water contact.
