IP44 E27 6 Sided Outdoor Wall Lantern - White

This outdoor wall lantern takes the traditional six sided coach lamp shape and finishes it in white, from the domed crown and top finial down to the shaped wall plate and the spear finial beneath. Six clear panels wrap the lamp holder so the light leaves on every side rather than pooling in one direction. It is rated IP44 and carries an E27 screw fitting, the standard large screw cap found on most household lamps, with a ceiling of 60W. The lantern mounts upright, so the lamp sits above the bracket.

No motion sensor is built in. IP44 covers splashing water from any direction, which suits a sheltered wall or porch rather than a position that takes a direct jet from a hose or a pressure washer. What bulb does it take?

It takes one E27 screw cap lamp, the large screw fitting, rated up to 60W. Filament, halogen or LED lamps with that cap will all fit.

Is a bulb supplied with it?

The pack names the fitting as ES-E27 and does not state that a lamp is included, so we would plan on buying one to suit.

How bright will it be?

The lantern sets no output of its own, since that comes from the lamp. Around 600 to 800 lumens in a warm white suits a doorway without glare.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

No. It is listed as not dimmable, so wire it to an ordinary switch, a timer or a photocell rather than a dimmer circuit.

Does it switch on by itself when someone approaches?

No motion sensor is built in, so it stays on the switch you wire it to. Pair it with a separate PIR or photocell if you want automatic switching.

Where can it be mounted?

IP44 protects against splashing water from any direction, so a sheltered outside wall or porch suits it. Indoors it covers bathroom zone 2 and the areas outside the zones, not zone 1 or zone 0.
