Description

The PowerMaster 10W LED outdoor bulkhead pairs a polypropylene base with a clear ribbed polycarbonate diffuser, housing an integrated SMD LED rated at 10W and 1,050 lumens. The 6500K colour temperature provides cool daylight output, making the bulkhead suitable for external walls where visibility and security are priorities rather than ambient warmth.

Designed for porch entrances, garage sides, storage outbuildings and perimeter pathways, the IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. This means the bulkhead can be mounted on exposed external walls without needing shelter from an eave or canopy. The 120° beam angle spreads light across a wide zone rather than creating a narrow spotlight effect, making it useful for area lighting rather than directional task lighting.

The polycarbonate diffuser is impact-resistant and disperses the LED array behind it, removing visible hotspots and giving a more uniform light distribution across the rectangular aperture. The black polypropylene base mounts directly to standard UK back boxes or surface conduit entries. At 0.52kg the fitting is light enough to mount on plasterboard-backed external walls without additional reinforcement, though masonry fixings are recommended for long-term outdoor use.

The LED operates on 220-240V mains without a separate driver box, simplifying installation where cable runs are short. The non-dimmable output is constant once switched on, which suits applications where the bulkhead is controlled by a PIR sensor or photocell rather than a manual dimmer switch.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The IP65 rating makes it suitable for bathroom Zones 1, 2 and 3 (anywhere outside the shower enclosure and bath zone). It cannot be used in Zone 0, which is inside a bath or shower tray where the fitting would be submerged.

Does it work with a PIR sensor?

Yes. The bulkhead operates on mains switching and will turn on and off in response to a PIR motion sensor or photocell controlling the circuit. It is not dimmable, so it provides full output whenever the circuit is live.

How bright is 1,050 lumens?

1,050 lumens at 6500K daylight provides crisp, bright area lighting comparable to a traditional 75W incandescent bulb, but with cooler, whiter light. This level suits perimeter lighting, doorways and garages where visibility is the priority.

What mounting is needed?
