Description
The Paradise cushion cover is a 50 x 50cm square made from 100& cotton with a soft velvet feel, printed with a busy chinoiserie scene of birds and flowers. The photograph shows the aqua ground reading as a soft blue-green, with the pattern worked in reds, pinks, yellows and deep greens: perching and flying birds, open blooms, berries and trailing foliage across the whole face. Because the pile is cotton, the surface takes the light and gives the print a gentle sheen rather than a flat, matt finish.
A 50 x 50cm cushion is the standard scatter size, which makes it easy to work into a sofa or bed you already own without rethinking the whole arrangement. It sits well at either end of a plainer sofa, layered against solid-coloured cushions that pick up one of the print's tones, or propped against pillows on a bed. The blue-green ground is calm enough to carry a very colourful print, so a single cushion does the decorating and the rest of the room can stay quiet. Two or three across a wider sofa reads as deliberate rather than cluttered.
The cover has a hidden zip closure, so the fastening stays out of sight and the cover comes off for washing. It is finished with a blanket-stitched trim around a knife edge, giving a clean, defined border rather than a piped or flanged one. Cotton washes and wears well: this cover is machine washable at 30 degrees, should be laid flat to dry, and can be ironed. The pattern is reversible, so both faces carry the print and you can turn the cushion over to even out wear or simply for a change. It comes in three colourways, of which this is the aqua.

Frequently Asked
Is the cushion cotton or velvet?
It is 100% cotton with a soft velvet feel, so the pile has the sheen and softness of velvet while the fibre itself is cotton, which is breathable and washes well.
How do I wash this cushion cover?
Machine wash it at 30 degrees, then lay it flat to dry rather than tumble drying, and iron it if needed. The hidden zip lets you take the cover off easily.
What size is it and what will it fit?
It measures 50 x 50cm, the standard scatter cushion size, so it suits most 50cm cushion pads and works comfortably on a sofa or bed.
Is the print on both sides?
Yes, the design is reversible, so both faces carry the bird and flower print and you can turn the cushion over whenever you like.
Does it come with a pad or just the cover?
This is a cushion cover with a hidden zip closure, so you can add your own pad or refresh a cover you already have.
