This is the Opulence cushion in bottle green, a plain velvet square with a piped edge running all the way round. The face is a soft, deep velvet with no pattern to distract from the colour, so the pile does the work: it catches the light differently as you turn it, reading darker in shade and brighter where the light falls. It measures 55 by 55cm, which is the larger end of the standard cushion range and gives you a generous, full square rather than a small accent.

A plain velvet cushion earns its place because it goes almost anywhere. Bottle green is a deep, settled shade that sits well against natural wood, warm neutrals and other jewel tones, and it works as easily on a grey sofa as on a cream armchair or the end of a bed.
