Norma 1 Light Glass Pendant - Smoked Black

The Norma is a single pendant light with a ribbed smoked glass shade in a mirrored grey finish, suspended from a matt black ceiling canopy with a satin brass collar linking the shade to the cable. The shade measures 14cm in diameter and 35cm in height, with vertical fluting across the outer surface that refracts light and adds texture when the bulb is lit.

Designed for dining areas, bedroom pendants, hallway entries and kitchens with island worktops, the Norma works as a single pendant over a small dining table or console, or in clusters of two or three at staggered heights over a kitchen island or bar. The adjustable drop ranges from 45cm to 200cm, giving flexibility for ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m. The E27 lampholder accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 20W (sold separately), allowing control over light colour and intensity.

The smoked glass is semi-transparent when the bulb is off and develops a warm amber glow through the grey tint when lit, particularly with a 2200K-2700K warm-white or filament-style LED. The ribbed profile creates soft linear shadows on the glass surface under direct light. The matt black canopy and cable contrast with the satin brass collar, giving the pendant a contemporary industrial character that pairs with dark-toned interiors, mixed metals and rooms with both warm and cool colour palettes. At 1.27kg the fitting has enough weight to hang vertically without sway on a standard flex, but remains light enough to install without reinforced ceiling fixings on plasterboard with standard cavity fixings.

What bulb does the Norma take?

The pendant uses an E27 (Edison screw) lampholder rated up to 20W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to bring out the amber tones in the smoked glass, or a decorative filament bulb for visible-bulb styling.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the bulb used. LED bulbs must be marked as dimmable and paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer. Halogen and traditional filament bulbs dim with standard dimmers. The pendant itself has no electronic components that restrict dimming.

Can multiple Norma pendants be used together?

Yes. The Norma works well in clusters of two or three, either at the same height for symmetry or staggered at different drops for a layered effect. When clustering, space them 30-40cm apart horizontally to avoid visual crowding.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 45cm to 200cm. Over a dining table the pendant typically hangs 70-80cm above the surface, which suits ceiling heights of 2.4m and above. For kitchen islands or bar areas, a slightly higher suspension of 80-90cm above the worktop is typical.
