Description

The Navajo is a 631mm table lamp from Quoizel pairing a hand-assembled stained glass shade with a cast-metal vintage bronze base. The square pyramid shade uses amber, sienna, and olive glass pieces arranged in a geometric pattern that references Art Deco and American Southwest design traditions, with linear borders and arrow motifs visible when lit. The base carries vertical fluting and stepped detailing consistent with early 20th-century Craftsman metalwork, and the lamp is switched by two pull chains — one for each of the two E27 sockets inside the shade.

Designed for console tables, bedside positions and study desks in traditional, Craftsman, and Arts and Crafts interiors, the Navajo provides ambient light filtered through coloured glass rather than bright task illumination. The 406mm square footprint of the shade suits table surfaces 600mm or wider without overwhelming smaller side tables. Each E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), and most users pair the lamp with warm-white LED filament bulbs to match the amber tones in the glass.

The stained glass shade is hand-cut and copper-foiled in the Tiffany method, meaning each piece of glass is wrapped in copper foil, soldered at the joints, and patinated to a dark finish that frames the individual glass segments. This construction technique dates to the late 19th century and gives the shade structural rigidity without a visible internal frame. Because the glass is hand-cut, the exact position of colour transitions and the intensity of amber and olive hues vary between individual lamps — this is a characteristic of the assembly method, not a defect.

The vintage bronze finish on the base has a mid-tone brown patina that sits between polished brass and oil-rubbed bronze, pairing comfortably with both warm wood tones and darker furniture finishes. The stepped base and fluted column give the lamp a combined weight of approximately 3kg, providing stability on polished surfaces without needing additional ballast.

Frequently Asked

What bulbs does the Navajo take?

The lamp has two E27 sockets, each accepting bulbs up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Warm-white LED filament bulbs between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K colour temperature pair well with the amber-toned glass and vintage bronze finish.

Is the glass shade replaceable if damaged?

The shade is assembled using the Tiffany copper-foil method, which makes individual glass piece replacement impractical. The shade is structurally robust when handled normally, but if broken it would typically need replacing as a complete unit. Contact Quoizel or Niori for spare shade availability.

How is the lamp switched?

Two pull chains hang from the socket cluster inside the shade, allowing each of the two bulbs to be switched independently. This gives three light levels: one bulb on, both bulbs on, or both off.

Does the glass colour vary between lamps?

Yes. Each shade is hand-cut and hand-assembled, so the exact position of colour transitions and the intensity of amber, sienna and olive hues differ slightly between individual lamps. This variation is inherent to the Tiffany assembly method and considered part of the handcrafted character.
