Description

The Nautic is a cordless table lamp shaped like a small lantern: a curved hook handle, a short cylindrical cap, a wide flat brim and a tall cylindrical diffuser that glows softly all the way round. It runs on an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and it gives a warm white light with a CRI of 90+, which keeps food, faces and flowers looking true. At 1.3W and 150 lumens it is a gentle glow for atmosphere rather than a reading light. The finish is white throughout, and the lamp stands 29cm tall and 25cm across.

With a lithium polymer battery and no cable, it goes wherever you want light: the dining table, a bedside or a hall shelf indoors, then out to the garden table or terrace when the evening is warm. It is rated IP45, so it is suitable for outdoor use as well as for rooms around the house. A full charge gives about 8 hours of light and takes 5 hours. The built in touch dimmer lets you lower the light as the evening winds down, so there is no separate dimmer to buy or fit. It suits anyone who likes to eat outside, or who simply wants a lamp that is not tied to a socket.

The lamp is made from aluminium, iron and plastic, and the design is by Josep Novell and Ernest Perera. It comes without a charger or USB cable, which are sold separately: the Single USB Lamp Charger with 1.5m Cable charges one lamp, and the 8 Port USB Lamp Charger with 1.5m Cables charges up to eight at once. The clean white finish sits happily against pale wood or linen indoors and stands out well against planting outside; set two or three along a long garden table for a soft, even run of light at supper.
