Description

The Nautic is a rechargeable table lamp with a lantern shape: a hook handle rises from a cylindrical cap, a wide flat brim spreads beneath it, and an opal cylinder gives a soft, even glow. It is made from aluminium, iron and plastic, with a textured rust finish that looks warm and earthy. The light is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 1.3W and gives 150 lumens of warm white light, a gentle level for mood, and with a CRI of 90+ colours and skin tones look natural. It stands 29cm tall and 25cm across.

Because it runs on its own lithium polymer battery, it needs no flex and no socket nearby. It is rated IP45 and suits outdoor use, so it can sit on a garden table or light a terrace for dinner, then come back inside to a sideboard, bedside or dining table. It can also hang as a pendant by its hook handle, from a pergola beam outside or a ceiling hook indoors. A full battery gives about 8 hours of light and takes 5 hours to charge. It suits anyone who wants light where the wiring does not reach.

The design is by Josep Novell & Ernest Perera, and it keeps to a few clear parts: handle, cap, brim and diffuser. It dims with its touch dimmer, so there is no separate dimmer to buy and nothing to wire. It comes without a charger or USB cable, which are sold separately: the Single USB Lamp Charger with 1.5m Cable charges one lamp, and the 8 Port USB Lamp Charger with 1.5m Cables charges up to eight at once. For styling, set it against pale stone, whitewashed walls or green planting, where the warm rust tone shows best, or hang a pair at different heights over an outdoor table.
