Description

Our Nautic is a rechargeable outdoor table lamp in the shape of a small lantern: an anthracite top with a curved hook handle and a wide, flat brim, above a milky white cylindrical shade that glows when lit. It stands 29cm tall and 25cm across. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is never a bulb to buy or change, and it gives 150 lumens of warm white light from 1.3W, with a colour rendering index of 90 or more, so faces, food and flowers keep their true colours. A touch dimmer lets you bring it up for dinner and down to a low glow later on.

Rated IP45, it is made for outdoor use as much as indoor: carry it out to the patio table, set it on a garden step or a terrace wall, then bring it into the sitting room or a bedside table when the night turns cold. It can also hang as a pendant by its hook handle, from a pergola beam, a balcony railing or a hook above a reading chair. The lithium polymer battery gives about 8 hours of light and takes 5 hours to charge, so it suits anyone who wants light where there is no socket nearby.

The design is by Josep Novell and Ernest Perera. The lamp is built from aluminium, iron and plastic, and its anthracite finish sits quietly against dark fencing, timber decking and planting. It comes without a charger or USB cable, which are sold separately: the Single USB Lamp Charger with 1.5m Cable charges one lamp, and the 8 Port USB Lamp Charger with 1.5m Cables charges up to eight at once. For styling, we like two or three hung at different heights along a fence or a pergola, or a single one at the end of a long outdoor table, where its soft glow carries the evening on.
