Description

A parasol base, 8cm tall, in polished black. At 80cm it is about as wide as a standard interior door. Where it goes matters as much as its weight: a base under a table is braced by the table, one standing free is not.

A dark finish reads as a shape rather than a surface, so the outline does the work and the detail recedes. Against a pale wall that is graphic; against a dark one the piece almost disappears. Stone is cool to the touch and stays that way, and it is heavy in a manner that makes a piece feel settled rather than placed. It arrives in 2 boxes.

Check the pole diameter against the base aperture before buying either. They are not standardised.

Covered or stored over winter it will last considerably longer than left out in it, and a fitted cover exists for that.
