This is a plain velvet-feel cushion in a rich cranberry pink, finished with a contrasting piped edge in mocha brown. It measures 55 by 55cm, which is larger than the standard 45cm cushion most sofas are dressed with, so it reads as a generous, filled square rather than a token scatter. The face and reverse are the same plain velvet, so it sits either way up and there is no right or wrong side to fuss over. The cover is made from 100% polyester.

A cushion this size earns its place at the back of a sofa or across a bed, where a 45cm cushion would look lost. Two of them anchor the corners of a three-seater; one softens the back of an armchair. The mocha piping gives it a defined edge, so it holds its shape against plainer upholstery and does its job even in a group of patterned cushions.
