Description

The Mercury is a white 2-way mains adaptor that converts one UK wall socket into two separate 13A outlets. The adaptor plugs directly into a standard UK 3-pin socket and provides two female 13A sockets positioned perpendicular to each other, allowing two appliances to be powered from the same wall outlet. The white moulded body is rated to BS1363/3 and uses brass pins for a secure connection to the mains.

Designed for temporary use in homes, offices and workshops where wall sockets are scarce or inconveniently placed, the adaptor suits low-to-medium power draw appliances such as lamps, phone chargers, radios and laptops. The unfused design means the adaptor itself carries no internal fuse — protection comes from the main socket's own fuse or the circuit breaker at the consumer unit. Each outlet on the adaptor can take a standard UK plug, but total combined load should not exceed the 13A rating of the source socket.

The compact footprint minimises projection from the wall, allowing the adaptor to sit close to skirting boards and furniture. The white finish blends neutrally with standard white UK sockets and faceplates. The adaptor is not suitable for permanent installation behind furniture or in concealed locations — BS1363/3 compliance assumes visible use where the adaptor can be checked and removed if required.

Frequently Asked

Is the adaptor fused?

No. The adaptor is unfused and relies on the existing fuse in the wall socket or the circuit breaker in the consumer unit for overload protection.

What's the maximum load it can handle?

The adaptor provides two 13A outlets, but the total combined load must not exceed the 13A rating of the source socket. That translates to a maximum combined draw of approximately 3,000W at 230V.

Can I use it with high-power appliances?

It is not recommended for high-draw appliances such as kettles, heaters, irons or hair dryers. The adaptor is best suited to low-to-medium power loads like lamps, chargers, radios and laptops.

Does it meet UK safety standards?

Yes. The adaptor conforms to BS1363/3, the British Standard for UK mains adaptors, and is suitable for domestic, office and workshop use.
