Description

The Matices is a 3-light semi-flush ceiling light with three blown glass globes in smoked silver, gold and soft grey, mounted on a matte white 55cm circular base. Each globe houses integrated LED modules totalling 15W and 1,542 lumens at 3000K, delivering warm white light through the coloured glass. The globes are arranged in a triangular cluster at varying heights, with the tallest globe dropping approximately 47cm from ceiling to base.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways, dining areas and low-ceiling living rooms where a pendant would drop too low, the Matices provides ambient lighting while adding colour variation through the different glass tones. The semi-flush mount sits close to the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with 2.3m-2.6m ceiling heights where a traditional pendant would intrude into headroom. The fitting supports TRIAC and 0-10V dimming protocols, allowing output to be adjusted from full brightness down to low mood lighting.

The three glass globes are hand-blown, so minor variations in tone, translucency and surface finish occur between individual pieces. The combination of metallic silver, warm gold and neutral grey creates a mixed-metal palette that pairs with both warm brass fixtures and cooler chrome or nickel hardware in the same room. The white ceiling plate conceals the wiring and fixing points, and the fitting includes gravity toggles for mounting onto standard UK plasterboard or solid ceilings. At 3.2kg the Matices requires a secure ceiling fixing capable of supporting the combined weight of glass and metal frame.

Is the Matices dimmable?

Yes. The integrated LED supports both TRIAC (leading-edge/trailing-edge) and 0-10V dimming protocols. Compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model installed — confirm your dimmer supports LED loads and one of these protocols before purchasing.

What ceiling height is needed?

The fitting drops 47cm from ceiling to the base of the lowest globe. It suits rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above, where it provides ambient light without intruding into headroom. For ceilings below 2.3m the globes may feel low in circulation areas.

Can individual globes be replaced?

The LED modules are integrated into each globe. If a module fails within the warranty period, contact Schuller or Niori for a replacement globe assembly. The globes are not user-serviceable in the field.

Does the glass vary between pieces?

Yes. The globes are hand-blown, so minor variations in tone, translucency and surface texture occur between individual fittings. This is a characteristic of blown glass production, not a defect.
