Description
The Matia is an 18W 3000K outdoor LED wall light built from cast aluminium with a dark grey powder-coated finish and a frosted opal diffuser. The fixture measures 170mm wide by 250mm high with a 90mm projection from the wall, housing an integrated LED array behind the diffuser that produces 570 lumens of warm white light at 3000K with a CRI above 80.
Designed for outdoor entrances, garden walls, patios and architectural façades, the Matia carries an IP65 rating making it resistant to dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. The cast aluminium construction withstands coastal salt exposure and temperature variation better than pressed steel or plastic housings. The dark grey finish absorbs rather than reflects daylight, keeping the fitting visually quiet when unlit during the day.
The angular side plates frame the frosted diffuser and create a geometric profile that pairs well with modern render, timber cladding, brick and concrete surfaces. The diffuser itself is a flat opal panel that distributes the 570lm output evenly without creating visible hot spots or striations. At 2.15kg the fitting has enough mass to feel solid during installation but does not require heavy-duty fixings beyond standard outdoor masonry screws into a brick, block or timber-framed wall.
The integrated LED runs on 100-240V 50/60Hz mains power without needing a separate driver box, simplifying the wiring run from the indoor supply to the outdoor mounting position. The Class 1 electrical classification requires an earth connection for safe operation.

Frequently Asked
What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?
IP65 means the fitting is fully dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. The Matia can handle rain, garden hose spray and coastal moisture without water entering the electrical components. It cannot be submerged or pressure-washed directly at close range.
Is the LED replaceable?
No. The 18W LED array is integrated into the fixture and not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 25,000-30,000 hours of operation, which equates to around 10-12 years of typical evening use before noticeable output degradation.
Can it be installed upside down or sideways?
The Matia is designed for vertical wall mounting with the diffuser facing forward. Installing it upside down or at non-standard angles may affect water drainage from the seals and is not recommended by Schuller.
What type of wall fixings are needed?
For brick or block walls, standard 6-8mm masonry anchors and screws are suitable. For timber-framed walls or cladding, use outdoor-rated wood screws into solid timber or into wall studs behind the cladding. The 2.15kg weight does not require heavy-duty expanding bolts.
