Description

A neat disc head for Magneto track, this is a spotlight that reads as a small circle of black rather than a barrel or a cone. The integrated LED draws 20W and gives 1600 lumens of warm white at 3000K, which is a useful amount of light from a head this compact. It is switched rather than dimmed, so it comes up to full output every time. We reach for it when a room wants track that stays quiet and light that does the talking.

Track suits rooms where the lighting needs to move with the furniture, and this head is well matched to that: kitchens where the work surface shifts, open-plan living rooms, a study, a hallway hung with pictures. The warm tone sits comfortably with wood, brick and painted plaster, and the fairly tight beam means you can pick out a worktop, a table or a run of shelving without washing the whole ceiling. Heads spaced along a single length of track will cover a long room evenly. It belongs indoors, in rooms that stay dry and warm.

The housing is finished in black, and the driver comes as part of the fitting. Cleaning is a matter of an occasional wipe over the body and the lens with a dry cloth, done with the power off and the fitting cool. It carries a three year warranty. The rest of the range is black as well, with surface and recessed track, L-joints for turning a corner or running wall to wall, and end caps to close off an open run, so a scheme can be built up piece by piece and added to later. Because the LED is part of the head, there is no lamp to change.
