Description

Here is a small ball head on a slim suspension, hanging below the track rather than sitting tight against it. Everything is black, cord and sphere alike, and the light source is built in: a 7W LED at 3000K, warm white and fairly focused rather than washed across the room. The drop adjusts, reaching as far as 1.8m, so the ball can sit low over a work surface or be kept short where headroom is tight.

We would run these over a kitchen island, a dining table or a bar counter, where a narrow beam picks out the surface and leaves the rest of the room quieter. They suit tall open-plan spaces in which the light wants bringing down closer to the work, and they do just as well over a shelf of glassware or a run of pictures. Dimming is triac, so a compatible dimmer will take the level down for the evening; the controller for the system belongs to the same range and we stock it alongside.

The finish is black from the head to the top of the drop, and the driver is contained within the fitting so nothing extra rides on the track. It carries a three year warranty. Upkeep is a minute's work: with the power off, run a dry cloth over the sphere and cord to lift dust, since a filmed-over lens dulls the beam. Give it rooms that stay dry, kitchens, halls, landings and dining rooms, and keep it clear of steam and weather. The deep track this hangs from is part of the range, as are the L-joints, end caps and the dimmable controller, all in black, so a full run can be put together in one finish.

How much light does it give out?

The integral LED draws 7W and produces 560 lumens at 3000K, a warm white. The beam is on the narrow side, so it reads as a defined pool on a surface rather than general room light.

How low can it hang?

The drop is adjustable between 1305mm and 1805mm, measured from the track, so it can be set high over a walkway or brought down over an island or table.

Do I need a separate dimmer?

Yes. It is dimmable with a triac dimmer, which is not supplied. The Magneto triac and push switch dimmable controller in this range handles the job, one per system.

Which track does it work with?

It is sized for the deep 55mm Magneto track, the surface and pendant profile, which we stock in one metre lengths in black with end caps.

Are the bulbs replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated and rated at 30,000 hours, with the driver included, so there is nothing to change over the life of the fitting.

Is it heavy on the track?

No. Each pendant weighs 0.33kg, so several can share a run without difficulty.
