Magneto Dimmable Track Light 7W 3000K 58mm Triac - Gold

A slim tube pendant that takes its power from the Magneto track, so light can be placed exactly where it is wanted and moved later if the room changes. The 200mm tube is finished in gold with black, a small piece of hardware rather than a shade, and the integral LED throws a tight warm white beam that lands on a surface instead of washing the whole room. It draws 7W for 560 lumens, and it dims on a triac dimmer, which is not supplied with it.

We reach for these over a kitchen island, a run of worktop or a long dining table, where a row of them gives neat pools of light with very little in the sightline. The drop adjusts across a generous span, so one can hang low over a breakfast bar and another sit higher above a hallway console. The narrow beam also picks out artwork or a bar of open shelving. Warm white keeps the tone soft in the evening, and the approach suits anyone who would rather build a scheme on track than commit to fixed positions.

The form is plain and the gold reads bright against black track, which is how we would use it: gold heads spaced along a dark line. The driver sits inside, so nothing extra hangs on the track, and the fitting is double insulated. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from steam and splashing. For cleaning, turn the circuit off, let the tube cool, then run a soft dry cloth along it; solvents and scouring pads will dull the gold. It carries a three year warranty. How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 505mm to 2000mm, so it can sit close under the track over a console or hang low above an island.

What sort of light does it give?

A warm white 3000K output of around 560lm from a 7W integral LED, in a narrow beam that concentrates light on a surface rather than spreading it across the room.

Do I need a separate dimmer?

Yes. It dims on a triac dimmer, which is not supplied with the light. The Magneto triac and push switch controller in the same range handles one system, and we stock it.

How big is the tube itself?

The tube measures 200mm long and 58mm across, and the whole fitting weighs about 0.5kg.

Can I use it in a bathroom or outside?

No. It is rated IP20, so keep it to dry interior rooms such as kitchens, dining rooms, hallways and living spaces.

Does the LED need replacing?

The LED is integrated and rated at around 30,000 hours, so no lamp changing is involved during normal use.
