Description
The LYYT 24V RGBW LED strip combines full-spectrum RGB colour mixing with a dedicated white LED channel across a 5m reel, with 60 SMD5050 LEDs per metre. Each LED chip contains four diodes — red, green, blue, and white — allowing independent control of colour effects and functional white light from the same strip. The IP65 epoxy coating seals the LEDs and PCB against dust and water jets, making the strip suitable for damp environments including bathrooms, outdoor covered areas, and stage setups.
Designed for both decorative accent lighting and functional task lighting, the strip operates on 24V DC supply and draws 16W per metre at full output. The 5m reel can be cut at 10cm intervals to fit exact installation lengths, with solder connection accessories included for wiring cut sections. The self-adhesive 3M backing fixes the strip to clean, dry surfaces including metal, wood, plaster, and most plastics without additional fixings.
The strip pairs with compatible RGBW controllers for dimming, colour sequencing, sound-reactive modes, and DMX integration. The 180-degree beam angle from the SMD5050 LEDs provides wide lateral spread suitable for indirect cove lighting, under-cabinet task lighting, and behind-panel wash effects. The 12mm LED spacing gives uniform light distribution without visible hotspots when viewed through frosted diffusers or bounced off surfaces.
The 24V operating voltage allows longer run lengths than 12V strips before voltage drop becomes noticeable — up to 5m can be run from a single power feed without requiring an in-line amplifier, though runs beyond 5m will need amplification to maintain consistent brightness across the full length. The low 0.67A per metre current draw keeps cable sizing manageable and reduces heat output compared to higher-wattage strip alternatives.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between RGB and RGBW?
RGB strips mix red, green and blue LEDs to create colours but produce a bluish or purplish tone when trying to create white light. RGBW strips add a dedicated white LED to each chip, allowing true warm or cool white alongside full colour mixing. This makes RGBW strips suitable for both mood lighting and functional task lighting from the same installation.
What controller does it need?
The strip requires a 24V DC RGBW controller to operate. Compatible AVSL controllers include the DMX model (153.778UK), sound-activated controller (153.743UK), and WiFi controller (153.896UK). Each controller provides different control methods — choose based on whether you need smartphone control, audio reactivity, or DMX integration with other stage lighting.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. The strip can be cut at marked intervals every 10cm along its length. Solder connection accessories are included for wiring cut sections to the power supply or controller. Do not cut between the marked cut points as this will damage the circuit.
Is IP65 suitable for outdoor use?
IP65 protects against water jets and dust but is not waterproof against full immersion. The strip is suitable for outdoor covered areas such as under eaves, pergolas, or canopies where it will not be submerged or exposed to direct rainfall. For installations in wet locations, ensure the power supply and controller are also IP65-rated or housed in weatherproof enclosures.
