Description

A flush fitting for rooms where headroom is short and a hanging light would only get in the way. The shade is slim and gently curved, drawn into a soft trapezium profile, and it sits against a round polished chrome plate measuring 15cm across. In amber, the shade throws a honeyed light rather than a cold one, and unlit it reads as a small warm bead against bright metal. It takes an E27 lamp, so the light you get is very much yours to choose.

We would fit this in a hallway, a small landing, a cloakroom or a box room, and it earns its place under sloping eaves and on any ceiling where a pendant would be knocked. Because the shade is shallow, it suits a run of two or three along a corridor as much as it does a single point in the middle of a small room. It is dimmable if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes with it. Keep the lamp within the 20W ceiling and choose one to suit the amber: a clear LED for sparkle, an opal one for a softer wash. It is intended for dry rooms indoors, so leave it out of shower zones.

The chrome is polished to a clear shine and the amber shade is fitted close to it, which keeps the whole thing compact. Switch off at the wall and let the lamp lose its heat before you touch anything; after that a dry duster keeps the chrome bright, and a barely damp cloth followed by a buff lifts fingerprints from the shade. It carries a one year warranty.
