Description

Lori stays close to the ceiling. Its shade is a slim curved trapezium in clear, carried on a satin nickel plate of 15cm across, so the finished fitting reads as a neat disc with a little shape below it rather than anything that hangs. The clear shade means the lamp is on show and becomes part of the look, so the one you pick matters. A single E27 socket sits behind it, and the light will dim where a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer switch are used together.

We reach for it in hallways, on landings, in box rooms and over stairs, and in any room where a pendant would sit in the way of a door or a tall visitor. Small ceilings take it well, since the diameter is modest and it leaves plenty of ceiling around it. We stock the same curved shade in polished chrome, and in antique gold with amber, chrome or iridescent shades if you want a warmer plate or a tinted glow. Keep it to dry rooms in the house; a shower room or an open porch asks for something sealed.

The satin nickel has a soft, low sheen, so it settles beside brushed door furniture and chrome without competing. Dust is the only real upkeep: turn the power off, wait for the lamp to cool, then go over the plate and the clear shade with a dry cloth, and use a barely damp one on the shade if fingermarks have set in.
