Lori 4 Light Pendant Light 80mm Chrome / Smoke - Polished Chrome

Four slim curved shades in smoke glass hang beneath a straight polished chrome bar, each one tapering into a trapezium profile that gathers light along its folds. At 1.2m the bar is long but narrow in section, so the fitting reads as a line rather than a block above a table. Every shade hangs on its own adjustable suspension, which means they can sit dead level or be staggered a little, and the overall drop can be shortened for a lower ceiling or let out where there is height to fill.

This is a dining pendant first and foremost, sized for a rectangular table or a kitchen island where one central shade would leave the ends dim. It suits a long galley kitchen just as well, or a run of breakfast bar in an open plan room. We would reach for warm LED lamps here, because the smoke glass takes the hard edge off a bright lamp and softens what reaches the table. It can be dimmed with compatible lamps and a suitable dimmer, which we find worth doing once the plates are cleared and the room turns to conversation.

The metalwork is finished in polished chrome, bright and reflective, with chrome carried onto the shade collars so the smoke glass sits within a continuous line of metal. Glass of this sort shows fingerprints readily, so a wipe with a barely damp microfibre cloth and a dry buff afterwards keeps it clear, done with the power off and the shades cool. Being rated for dry rooms, it belongs over the table rather than anywhere it might meet steam or splashes. It carries a one year warranty. The same curved trapezium shade turns up elsewhere in the Lori range on smaller flush fittings, in polished chrome and in antique gold, if you want a matching light for the hall or landing. Lamps are not included.

What lamps does it take?

Four E27 lamps, each up to 20W. They are not supplied, and we would choose warm white LED lamps for use behind smoke glass.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 270mm at its shortest to 2270mm at its longest, so it can be set close to the ceiling or lowered well down over a table.

How long is the bar?

It measures 1200mm end to end and only 80mm across, which keeps it visually light over a dining table or island.

Can I dim it?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and pair them with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which makes it a fitting for dry rooms such as kitchens, dining rooms and living spaces.

How should the shades be cleaned?

Switch the power off and let the lamps cool, then use a barely damp microfibre cloth on the glass and dry it straight away. Avoid abrasive creams, which will dull polished chrome.
