Description

A slim polished chrome bar carries three smoke glass shades, each a curved trapezium that tapers as it drops and softens the light through its tint. They hang in a straight line rather than a cluster, and the bar runs 850mm end to end, so the shades sit close together without crowding each other. The drop adjusts, which means you can hold the glass high under a modest ceiling or bring it down low over a surface.

We reach for a linear pendant like this over a long dining table, a kitchen island or a run of worktop, where a single central fitting would leave the ends of the room dim. Each shade takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and the smoked tint flatters a warm filament style LED that you can see glowing through the glass. It will dim if you put suitable lamps together with a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes in the box. Dry indoor rooms are where it belongs, so keep it well away from bathrooms and open porches.

The shades are glass and the bar is polished chrome, bright against the darker tint. A soft dry cloth over the glass keeps its smoky depth clear, and any marks on the chrome are best lifted with a barely damp cloth and dried straight after, with sprays kept off the finish. It carries a one year warranty.
