Description
The Laverna is a 180x100cm asymmetrical wall mirror built from multiple bevelled glass segments separated by gold leaf inlays, set against a black-lacquered MDF backing. The faceted geometry breaks the surface into irregular polygons that catch and redirect light at different angles depending on viewing position and time of day.
Designed for vertical or horizontal mounting, the Laverna works as a full-length dressing mirror in bedrooms and walk-in wardrobes, or as a horizontal statement piece above low sideboards, console tables and sofas in living rooms and hallways. The 5cm depth gives the mirror physical presence on the wall without projecting far enough to intrude on furniture placement or circulation space. At 36.4kg the mirror requires secure wall fixings into solid masonry or timber studs rather than plasterboard alone.
The gold leaf inlays between each mirrored segment add warmth without dominating the reflective surface — the gold reads as accent detailing rather than primary finish. The black backing behind the bevelled edges creates sharp definition between each facet and stops light bleeding through the gaps. The asymmetrical outline means the mirror lacks bilateral symmetry, so positioning it on a wall requires a visual judgement call rather than simple centring on a feature.
Schuller manufactures the Laverna in Spain as part of their contemporary decorative mirror range. The combination of bevelled mirror segments, metallic detailing and geometric irregularity puts the piece into the category of architectural mirrors rather than purely functional ones — it operates as both reflection surface and wall sculpture.

Frequently Asked
Can this be hung horizontally?
Yes. The Laverna is designed for vertical or horizontal installation. The asymmetrical outline works in both orientations, though the visual balance shifts depending on which way the mirror is mounted.
What wall fixings are needed?
At 36.4kg, the mirror requires heavy-duty fixings into solid masonry, brick or timber studs. Plasterboard alone will not support this weight safely. Use appropriate mirror plates or D-rings with wall anchors rated for at least 40kg distributed load.
Is the gold finish real gold leaf?
The specification lists the finish as gold leaf. Schuller typically uses metal leaf (gold-coloured metal foil) rather than pure gold, applied to the inlay sections between the bevelled mirror segments.
How is the mirror cleaned?
Clean the mirrored segments with standard glass cleaner and a microfibre cloth. Avoid getting cleaner on the gold leaf inlays — wipe these with a dry cloth only, as moisture and chemicals can damage the leaf finish over time.
