Description
The Knightsbridge OSMKW is a Wi-Fi motion sensor that sends push notifications to your phone when movement is detected within a 100° horizontal and 90° vertical field, covering up to 4.5m range. The sensor connects directly to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network through the SmartKnight app, with no separate hub or gateway required.
Designed for home automation and security monitoring, the sensor mounts to walls or ceilings using a magnetic plate that clips onto the back of the 64mm square white polycarbonate housing. Once installed, the sensor can trigger other SmartKnight devices in the same network — such as switching on lights when motion is detected in a hallway or activating a siren when movement is sensed while the home is unoccupied.
The sensor runs on two AAA batteries (included) and sends a low battery alert to the app before the charge runs out. Battery life averages up to one year based on 20 activations per day, though this varies with detection frequency and Wi-Fi signal strength. The ultra-low power MCU and Wi-Fi module maintain a wireless range of up to 40m from the router depending on wall construction and interference.
The IP20 rating makes the sensor suitable for indoor use only. For dual-band routers broadcasting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals, the 5GHz band must be disabled during initial pairing — the sensor operates only on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n). The 2-year warranty covers the sensor hardware but excludes the batteries.

Frequently Asked
Does this need a hub or bridge to work?
No. The sensor connects directly to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network through the SmartKnight app. No separate hub, bridge or gateway is required.
What is the detection range and angle?
The sensor detects motion up to 4.5m away within a 100° horizontal and 90° vertical field. This makes it suitable for monitoring doorways, hallways and small-to-medium rooms.
How long do the batteries last?
Battery life averages up to one year based on 20 activations per day. Actual battery life varies depending on how often motion is detected and the strength of the Wi-Fi signal. The app sends a low battery alert before the batteries need replacing.
Can it trigger other smart devices?
Yes. Through the SmartKnight app, the sensor can trigger other compatible devices in the same network — such as switching on lights, activating a siren, or sending notifications when motion is detected.
