Irias 1 Light Pendant - Matte Black with Satin Copper

The Irias is an 18cm diameter pendant light with a flared conical shade in matte black, accented by a narrow band of satin copper above the shade's shoulder. The pendant takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and delivers focused downlighting through the open base of the cone. The contrast between the matt black powder-coated steel and the warm copper band gives the fitting an industrial character that works in both functional and design-led interiors.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and workspaces where directed task light is needed, the Irias hangs on a black fabric cable with an adjustable drop from 35cm to 140cm. This allows the pendant to be set 60-80cm above a worktop in kitchens with standard 2.4m ceilings, or lowered to 70-90cm above a dining table for more intimate lighting. The narrow 18cm diameter suits single-point installations over compact surfaces, or grouped in multiples along a longer island or bar counter.

The matte black finish absorbs reflections under daylight and blends into darker ceilings and walls at night, making the warm glow from the bulb the primary visual focus. The satin copper band provides a tonal bridge between the black shade and warmer interior materials like oak, walnut, brass hardware and natural leather. The shade weighs 0.5kg and the Class 1 earthed construction requires connection to a standard UK ceiling rose with earth terminal.

What bulb does the Irias take?

The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 20W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2700K for task lighting over kitchen islands or dining tables.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The fabric cable allows the pendant to be set anywhere between 35cm and 140cm drop during installation. Once fixed, the height can be adjusted again by accessing the ceiling rose and re-feeding the cable, though this requires isolating the circuit and removing the canopy.

Is the Irias suitable for bathroom use?

No. The IP20 rating means the pendant is only suitable for dry indoor locations. It cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor covered areas where moisture is present.

How many Irias pendants are needed over a kitchen island?

For a standard 1.2m-wide island, two Irias pendants spaced 60-80cm apart provide balanced coverage. For islands 1.8m or longer, three pendants spaced evenly work better. The 18cm diameter is compact enough to group without visual crowding.
