Description
The Hugo is a 94cm tall fibreglass bulldog sculpture finished with a glossy white base and hand-painted streams of colour running across the body. The sculpture weighs 18.2kg and measures 110cm deep by 73cm wide, sized to occupy outdoor patios, poolside areas, entrance porches, and commercial lobbies where a large-scale decorative object can anchor a space.
Made from fibreglass and polyester resin, the sculpture is built to withstand outdoor conditions including rain and UV exposure, though prolonged direct sunlight may fade the vivid colour streams over time. The glossy finish resists water absorption and can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The bulldog sits in a grounded stance with front legs splayed and head tilted slightly forward, presenting a stable footprint that does not require ground anchoring on flat, level surfaces.
The colour streams are applied in gestural strokes rather than neat blocks, creating a drip-paint effect that gives each piece slight variation depending on how the paint was applied during production. The glossy white base shows through between the coloured bands, providing contrast and keeping the overall palette from appearing too saturated. The heavy 18.2kg weight prevents the sculpture from tipping in moderate wind but should be brought indoors or secured in exposed coastal or hilltop sites during storm conditions.
From Schuller, a Spanish manufacturer producing large-scale decorative objects and statement lighting pieces. The Hugo is part of a wider range of animal sculptures finished in similar glossy multi-colour treatments, including gorillas, lions and rhinos in various scales.

Frequently Asked
Is the Hugo suitable for year-round outdoor use?
The fibreglass and polyester construction resists rain and general weathering, but prolonged direct sunlight may fade the vivid colour streams over time. Many owners bring the sculpture indoors during winter months or place it in a covered porch or loggia to preserve the glossy finish.
Does it need to be anchored to the ground?
The 18.2kg weight provides stability on flat, level surfaces without ground anchoring in sheltered locations. In exposed coastal or hilltop sites subject to strong winds, securing the sculpture or moving it indoors during storms is advisable.
How is the sculpture cleaned?
Wipe the glossy finish with a damp microfibre cloth to remove dust and pollen. For more stubborn marks, a mild soapy water solution can be used, followed by a rinse with clean water and a dry cloth to prevent water spots.
Are the colour patterns identical between pieces?
No. The colour streams are applied by hand during production, so each Hugo shows slight variation in the drip patterns and colour placement. The overall palette and composition remain consistent across the range.
