Description

This is a flat, disc-shaped LED lamp with a white face and a shallow white body, made for fittings that take the GX53 base. It draws 12W and gives around 930 lumens of warm white light at 3000K, a soft tone with a hint of yellow in it that sits comfortably against cream paint, oak and brass. The spread is wide, so light washes across a surface rather than pooling in a tight circle. It is not dimmable, so pair it with a plain switched circuit.

Shallow GX53 fittings tend to appear where depth is scarce: under-cabinet pucks in kitchens, slim ceiling fittings in hallways and on landings, shelf and alcove lights, and the insides of wardrobes. We reach for a lamp like this when a fitting is too slim to take a conventional reflector lamp, and it suits anyone replacing tired old GX53 discs that have gone dim or slow to strike. The warm output is easy to live with in a room you use in the evening.

The face is a white diffuser rather than a clear lens, which softens the light and hides the emitters behind it, and the body is white to match so it disappears into a pale fitting. It is a very light lamp for its diameter. To keep the output honest, wipe the face with a dry cloth when the lamp is cold, and leave abrasive pads and cleaning sprays well away from it. Being rated for dry indoor rooms, it is not one for a shower zone or an outbuilding. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the same lamp in a cooler white, in a lower wattage where a cabinet needs less punch, and in dimmable versions for circuits that are already on a dimmer.
