Description

The head on this one retracts into the ceiling and swivels, so light can be aimed at a wall, a worktop or a run of shelving rather than dropping straight down. Output is warm white at 3000K, around 1020 lumens from the integrated LED, with a fairly tight beam that keeps the pool of light well defined. The finish is black inside and out, bezel included, which reads quietly against a dark or strongly painted ceiling. A driver comes with it, and the fitting is not dimmable, so a plain wall switch is all it asks for.

We reach for these where a fixed downlight would miss the mark: over a kitchen island, along a picture wall, above a reading chair, or picking out the face of a fireplace. Because each head turns on its own, a row can be set to graze a wall on one side of a room and light a work surface on the other. They suit kitchens, hallways, landings and living rooms, and they do good work in smaller spaces where a pendant would crowd the head. Keep them to dry rooms indoors; a shower zone or an open porch wants something sealed instead.

The housing is double insulated, and the black finish carries across the trim and the visible face of the swivel head, so nothing bright catches the eye when the light is off. For care, switch off at the wall, give it a moment to cool, then wipe the bezel with a dry cloth and leave sprays and scouring pads well alone. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the range in matt white with black as well, in a smaller cut-out size, and in warmer and cooler tones if you are matching lighting already in the room.
