Description

The head on this one sits back in the ceiling when it is not wanted, then pulls down and swivels so light can be aimed at something in particular rather than straight at the floor. It is a single integrated LED drawing 12W, giving 1020 lumens of warm white with a fairly tight beam, and the driver comes with it. Output is fixed rather than dimmable, so it works from an ordinary switch. The visible face is small and quiet, sized to a 95mm cut-out.

We use adjustable downlights of this sort where the light needs a job to do: grazing a run of kitchen cupboards, picking out shelving or a framed print, washing a stair wall, or lifting a dark corner of a hallway. The warm tone keeps living rooms and bedrooms comfortable rather than clinical, and because the head tucks away, a ceiling full of them reads as plain circles until they are angled. It suits dry, heated rooms indoors and should stay clear of bathroom zones, unheated porches and anywhere steam or damp collects.

The trim is finished in matt white, with the moving head in black so the aperture reads as a shadow rather than a bright ring. Matt paint hides fingerprints well; an occasional pass with a dry cloth around the rim is all it asks, and keep sprays and damp cloths away from the lens. It carries a three year warranty. Across the range we also stock an all black version, cooler warm and neutral white tones, and a lower output option for spaces where 12W would be too much of a good thing, so a whole floor can be kept consistent while changing the brightness room by room. The LED is built in, so there is no lamp to buy or swap later.
