Description

The head sits back inside the ceiling and pulls down and swivels round when you need it, so light can be aimed at a worktop, a picture or the spine of a bookcase rather than dropped straight at the floor. Output is warm white at 2700K, from a 7W integrated LED, and the driver is supplied with it. It is a single, non-dimmable light, switched on and off in the usual way, and it is one of the smaller apertures in the range.

We reach for a retractable spot like this where a fixed downlight would leave a room looking flat: kitchens with a long run of cupboards, a hallway with something worth lighting on the wall, a study, a display shelf at home. Because the beam is on the tighter side, it rewards a little planning, so work out what each one is pointing at rather than spacing them evenly and hoping. Keep it to rooms that stay dry, which means away from shower zones and out of unheated outbuildings.

The trim and the moving head are finished in black, which recedes against a dark ceiling and reads deliberately against a pale one. Cleaning asks very little: turn the light off, give the head time to cool, then wipe the visible ring with a barely damp cloth and dry it, keeping solvents and kitchen sprays off the lens. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the same fitting in matt white with black, in cooler white tones, and in a brighter version for higher ceilings, so one scheme can run through a whole floor. The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp to buy or change.
