Description

The Funk Stout Small is a 36cm-diameter metal pendant light with a teardrop-shaped shade in matt black, suspended on a 150cm black flex from a matching black ceiling cap. The shade tapers to a point at the top and flares out to a curved lower rim, with a beaten gold finish on the inside that catches and reflects the light from a single E27 bulb (sold separately).

The compact 36cm width and 40cm height make this pendant suit kitchen islands, breakfast bars, smaller dining tables and reading corners where a full-size pendant would overwhelm the space. It hangs well as a single fitting over a 600-900mm island or in a cluster of two or three at staggered drops over a longer worktop. The 150cm cable can be shortened on installation to set the rim 700-800mm above a worktop or table.

The matt black exterior absorbs reflections and reads as a clean silhouette against pale walls, while the beaten gold interior warms the downward light cast by the bulb, giving the fitting a softer glow than a plain black-lined shade would produce. The metal construction has weight to it without being unwieldy at this smaller size, and the directional shade focuses light onto the surface below rather than spilling sideways into the room.

The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. An E27 GLS filament bulb suits the style of the fitting and pairs well with the beaten gold interior, but any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb will fit.

How low does it hang?

The cable is supplied at 150cm and can be shortened on installation. For a kitchen island or breakfast bar, the rim of the shade typically sits 700-800mm above the worktop. Over a dining table, 800-900mm above the surface is a common drop.

Can it be hung in a cluster?

Yes. The compact 36cm diameter works well in groups of two or three at staggered heights over a long island or rectangular dining table. Each pendant requires its own ceiling outlet or a multi-outlet ceiling plate.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

The 40cm shade height plus the desired drop above a worktop or table means a ceiling height of around 2.4m or above is recommended. The cable can be shortened to suit lower ceilings, but the shade itself cannot be reduced in height.
