Description

A small round downlight in matt white, this one sinks into the ceiling and leaves only a slim trim on show. The head swivels within the housing, so the beam can be angled off a wall, a worktop or a picture rather than dropping straight down. A COB LED sits behind the aperture, giving a fairly tight pool of light with clean edges, and the driver is supplied with it. The colour is neutral cool white at 4000K, crisp against warm plaster and paint. It runs from a plain switch rather than a dimmer.

We reach for these where light needs pointing at something in particular: a run over kitchen worktops, a line down a hallway, or a pair angled onto shelving in a study. At 12W apiece they are bright enough to carry a small room on their own, and the 95mm cut-out is a common domestic size, so they suit a swap as readily as a fresh scheme. We would space a row of them evenly and aim each one where the work happens. Keep them to dry rooms indoors and leave shower and bath zones to a sealed fitting.

Trim and body are matt white throughout, so the fitting sits quietly in a painted ceiling instead of catching the eye. Cleaning asks little: wait until the light is cold, then take a dry cloth over the visible rim and keep sprays and damp away from the lens. It carries a three year warranty. The LED is built in, so there is nothing to buy for it.
