Description

A small round recessed light with a matt white bezel and a tilting inner ring, so the beam can be aimed off vertical instead of dropping straight down. The 12W COB LED sits set back in the housing, which keeps the bright face away from your eyeline as you pass beneath it, and it gives a warm 3000K light that sits well against plaster, oak and off-white paint. Its driver is supplied with it, and the output is fixed, so it is switched on and off rather than dimmed.

It earns its place where light needs aiming rather than simply spreading: down a hallway, over a worktop, or tipped towards a bookcase, a chimney breast or a hung picture. We reach for one of these where a row of fixed downlights would leave the walls flat and the middle of the room over-lit. The 95mm cut-out is a familiar domestic size, and the fitting is at home in kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms. Keep it to rooms that stay dry; bathroom zones and covered outdoor ceilings want a sealed fitting instead.

The bezel wears a flat matt white that reads as part of a painted ceiling rather than a ring of applied trim, and the tilting section is finished to match. Dust settles on the rim more than anywhere else, so a dry cloth or a soft brush now and then is all it asks; nothing wet, and no cream cleaners near the paint. The LED and its driver are part of the fitting, and it carries a three year warranty.
